We doubt if there will ever be a more loved speedway rider than Belle Vue and England star, Peter Craven.
Even today in 2008 he is still the ONLY Englishman to win the World Championship twice!
While it's more than 44 years since he lost his life in a track crash in Edinburgh, Craven is revered throughout the sport and acknowledged as England's finest.
Dubbed 'The Wizard of Balance,' Craven was a supreme rider.
He grew up in Liverpool, scene of so much that was bustling in the early 60s and a time when speedway's top star was at his peak.
He won his second World Crown at Wembley in September of '62, but just over 12 months later he was gone, so tragically killed after a track crash in a harmless challenge fixture at Old Meadowbank.
