Back in the 30s New Cross was the place to watch speedway and was immortalised by the post war film ‘Once a Jolly Swagman’ in 1948.
Here we look at some of the greats to have worn the Rangers Orange and Black Maltese Cross colours and interview one of the 60s stars, Leo McAuliffe.
From World Champions Jack Milne to Barry Briggs, both Rangers riders in days past, we also look at another World Champion to grace their colours; 1936 star Lionel Van Praag.
We don’t forget Tom Farndon or Ron Johnson either, two more iconic Rangers riders of the past as the Frying Pan comes alive down the Old Kent Road.
